Tony has been out all day volunteering with the National Trust. I've stripped the bed, got it all washed and dried in the sunshine and back on the bed. I cleaned both bathrooms to within an inch of their lives. Then I gave the front garden a thoroughly good water. Althought it has rained it's been really warm and windy which dries everything up very quickly. I had some lunch and then settled down to craft. I cut out the front and sides for the miniature conservatory and then went to make a start on the windows. A couple of weeks ago I ordered some clear acrylic sheets from Amazon. Imagine my disappointment to find that they weren't clear at all. I went online and arranged to return them. Then I wrote a scathing review. It took me close on two hours to cut and sand a sheet of our own acrylic down to size. Then I made the window casements and went back online to see if anyone else had reviewed the acrylic from Amazon. Imagine my horror when I saw that the clear acrylic has a thick plastic protective coating which peels off. Of course I immediately cancelled the return and changed the review. I could have saved myself a couple of hours work if I'd seen it before. I'm busy kicking myself. Oh well they're made now so tomorrow I'll use some wood filler to tweak them and I'll get them painted ready to install. To give an idea of how they will look I've placed them where I'd like them to go once they've been titivated..
I actually mitred the frames for the doors but didn't bother for the windows. Can always paint a mock mitre line on if I feel it's needed

... oopsie! Oh well, that can be your "what I learned today" moment :)
ReplyDeleteI have done something like that myself- not quite as far as sending back, but I didn't realise there was a protective coating either. Oh well we live and learn. Just thought I would let you know, you are not alone in the pillock awards. 🤣
