Tomorrow my friend Marian is due to have another biopsy on the mass that's developing in her chest. Originally the surgeon was going to go in through her chest but they've found something on her spine so they are going in from the back. She is amazingly positive and simply says 'it is what it is' Hopefully she won't be kept in too long after her operation. It's only a pity that it's due to turn cold next week. I'm sure a sit in the garden with warm sunshine on her face would do her the world of good.
She'd love to have seen my first butterfly yesterday. Hopefully the weather will pick up quickly and Marian can sit in the garden while she recovers.
I popped in very briefly on Friday and took her some Crab sandwiches and a tub of fresh figs. I know she enjoyed them and it was so nice being able to think of something she'd like. It's difficult to visit when quite rightly her family want to be with her. I'm keeping everything crossed that all goes well tomorrow.

You're a good friend. We're going through similar with my brother. He's happy he's finally home, but needs care and constant support which is a lot for my sister-in-law. Balancing being supportive and helpful and not intruding is a necessary.
ReplyDeleteIt really is. I'm glad I'm able to visit so that she gets different conversations. It must be mind numbing for Marian when she so used to being very active.
DeleteHow worrying for Marian, her family and you, Cherie. Amazing that she's managing to be so positive and accepting of the situation. I bet those crab sandwiches and figs really pleased her.....so much more interesting than grapes and a magazine.
ReplyDeleteTodays the day of her operation and then we wait for results. She'll know very quickly what the problem is.
DeleteShe's been absolutely brilliant throughout the past few months. So brave and accepting.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well for your friend & oh, what a pretty butterfly. Take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan.
DeleteHow worrying about your friend. I do hope there is some good news.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see a butterfly. It's supposed to be a little warmer here this week. I might even - gasp - be able to sit out in the back garden!
It's turned cold here so no more sitting in the sunshine for a week or two
DeleteThat's a gorgeous butterfly!
ReplyDeleteWishing your friend all the best with her surgery and whatever comes after. She is no doubt very glad to have your visits.
She's just so much fun and a pleasure to visit.
DeleteThinking of Marian and wishing her all the best for a positive outcome.
ReplyDeleteThinking of Marion and of you while you support her. xx
