I'm really interested to know how costs compare in different parts of the world. I've just had my annual dental checkup and was delighted to find that it still only cost £25 and a few pence. Thankfully I've always looked after my teeth so haven't needed any treatment for the past few years and it was a simple checkup. It would cost us heckuva lot more if we had to pay privately. Most Dentists are pushing "Denplan" but thankfully we are still able to get NHS treatment. Tony had to change his dentist last year when his changed over to Denplan. Luckily he was able to register with a different practice and get his treatment on the NHS. It's almost impossible to find an NHS dentist these days and we consider ourselves very fortunate.
Ontario, Canada, low income senior = free. 2 cleanings per year and dentist as required.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's excellent. We assumed for a very long time that Britain was one of a very few countries with free health care.
DeleteSadly, I have no chance of an NHS dentist here. I have to pay privately, even for Lily. X
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I still have a National Health dentist. Mine has changed hands twice in the years I have been going there. A big practice with several dentists in attendance. It is now a BUPA dentist. I went a few months ago to get a repair on my bridge. The young lady seemed very young. She has previously done a filling for me, but it has deteriorated. I was reluctant to go again but I needed the bridge repaired. As it was two months short of my next check up I asked if she could do that while I was there. She said she was too busy and ushered me out of the room. I asked at reception to make an appointment for the check up. They said to ring up next year, (2024). I think they don't want to be bothered with me. I will ring in the spring and see what they say.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cheap. Here in the US I have dental insurance (which is basically rubbish). I usually pay about $100 (80 pounds) AFTER insurance. I had to have a crown and AFTER insurance it cost several hundred dollars. It's ridiculous.
