Cucumbers in November

It's the 4th of November and I still have cucumbers growing in the porch. I'm about to pick a couple to add to a large bowl of salad that I've just picked from the garden.  Initially I had thought that there wouldn't be much worth picking but I've gathered radish, chard, kale, a bulb of fennel and some parsley. I'll add the cucumbers and some tomatoes that I have ripening on my veg rack and I will add some pickled beet that I bottled earlier in the year. Not bad at all as a light lunch with cheese or tuna. No food miles either.

  1. I like the idea of such a short trip from source to plate. And such late produce.
