Harvest time

The weather has been lovely and I've had a busy gardening morning before going over to my friend's for Sunday dinner. I took out a large plant and planted a couple of fruit trees. Then I trimmed my strawberries back and spread a load of bark on the garden.  I put three fruit trees on our local next door site and sold them straight away with several people actually wanting them. The  money pays for my compost next year and clears a space for me to grow more vegetables.  I've just put this little montage together to give you an idea of some of the things I've been growing.  It's my first ever baked potato squash and Black Russian tomatoes and I'm already planning for next year. The pumpkin on the back row is about the size of a football and the beautiful dark apples next to it are from one of my ballerina trees. It goes to show that you don't need an Allotment in order to produce beautiful and unusual fruit and veg. The Black Russian Tom's on the front row are almost the colour of a conker and incredibly juicy. I've saved loads of the seeds for next year as I'm told that they come true from saved seed.

  1. That harvest looks amazing! I am baking an apple crisp right now with apples from my tree. I can't wait to sample them as this is the first year I have tasted them. They are not eating apples; I found that out very quickly.

  2. To be fair, your garden is as big and as good as an allotment strip!
    An amazing harvest. xx

    1. It looks bigger than it actually is. The entire garden is 40ft by 30ft and the veg part is less than half of that. That's why I'm forever looking for more space to grow things

  3. That is a lovely montage of the harvest from your garden Cherie. I'm waiting on the arrival of a new gooseberry bush, some raspberry canes and a few strawberries. Growing your own fruit and veg is very satisfying isn't it.
