I've spent the night in hospital sitting/snoozing with my lovely friend Joan. She isn't able to respond to conversation but I shed a tear when I asked her if she knew I was there. Joan nodded her head ever so slightly. I'll go home for a couple of hours sleep and then come back and stay tonight. The day before yesterday she was able to nod or shake her head in response to questions but yesterday she wasn't even able to do that. I want her to understand that she may not have family but she isn't alone.
So sad Cherie. It's not that long since her husband died, she hasn't lasted very long after him has she. It's good you're there for her.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe that it's three years since Bryan slipped away.
DeleteThat is so sweet of you, Cherie. I'm sure your presence is a comfort to her.
ReplyDeleteI hope so. She's a lovely lady
DeleteYou're so kind, and astute, to realize she needs to know she's not alone. Try not to get worn out. This is a demanding time.
ReplyDeleteIt's heartbreaking but I'll be with Joan until the very end. She's been a lovely neighbour.
DeleteI am absolutely sure she know you are there in lieu of family and that she isn't alone during her last journey.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you both. xxx
Thanks Joy. Joan is at peace now.
DeleteYou are very kind and thoughtful neighbour and our thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care & hugs. BTW, I'm updating my old laptop to a brand new one, so should be able to comment on that again soon whilst eating breakfast. I'm doing this on the PC in the cold old study. Anyway, I just hope you are coping OK.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan. I'm very tired but glad I was with Joan on her journey. X
DeleteI'm sure your presence has been/was a comfort to her.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks Jan. It was a sad time but Joan is at peace now. X
