We have newts

Isn't this a beautiful creature.  He/she is quite happily swimming around our pond. Last year we hadn't seen any frog spawn so were astonished to see tadpoles later in  the season.  I wondered at the time if the were newt tadpoles and it's clear now that they must have been.  Tony did spot a bit of froggy getting jiggy yesterday so it's all happening out there. At least the stand a fighting chance now that there aren't any goldfish in the pond.

  1. S cute & similar to our skinks, which are landlubbers & never go into our pond. Thanks for the photo, take care & hugs.

  3. Oh wow - how exciting! I'm in Minnesota visiting daughter and the ponds and lakes are mostly frozen solid here! The sandhill cranes and Trumpeter Swans are returning and have no where to go!
