Waiting

I'm invigilating this afternoon and currently waiting for my student  to arrive. I haven't seen Tony since first thing this morning as he had a hospital appointment. Now that he has a bus pass it makes sense for him to use it but it's far cheaper for me to use the train than the bus so he caught a bus and I went for the train. I bought a return ticket even though Tony is picking me up.  Crazy as it sounds it's actually cheaper than a one way ticket.   We are back into salad boxes and the garden continues to produce lovely fresh greens.  I'm still using last year's apples and pickles too.

From the garden.. spinach, chard, Brussels sprouts shoots, bunching onions and lettuce

  1. Those salads look lovely! One of my friends does exam invigilation, too. She's got eleven this week and is half dead already! xxx

    1. It's lovely picking fresh salad from the garden. We'd got out of the habit. I love invigilating but it can be pretty brain numbing.

  2. How daft that a return ticket is cheaper than a single! It's brilliant that you're still able to feed yourselves from your garden.

    1. I've often thought that the price is crazy. I've still got plenty to eat from the garden mostly the onion and brassica family.

  3. They were talking about the bizarre way train returns are cheaper than singles on Radio 4s morning 'Today' programme. Packed lunches look scrumptious! :) x
