It's nearly 9.30 and I've already planted my onion sets, put the washing out on the line and been for my morning walk followed by our usual 5 games of rummikub. It's crazy to think I'm up three hours before Tony and to be honest I do like those three hours to myself when I can Potter about in the garden. I was given a gorgeous plant at my carving club last night so as soon as the sun warms the back garden I'll plant it our in the flower bed.
I think the roofer was trying to put vat on the job but I stood my ground and said that the 'offer price' on the written quote did not mention + vat. He claimed that he was simply working out the portion of vat on the bill and had he not said that all jobs have vat added then I might have believed him. I pointed out that it was a quote not an estimate and should have said +vat on the quote. I've saved us close on £650 by making sure he knew the difference between a quote and an estimate. Someone else might have just gulped and paid it. Make sure that a quote is actually the price you are going to pay folks because if you aren't firm with tradesmen there is a chance that the bill is actually a lot more than they tell you it's going to be. Get the quote in writing.
You sure have been busy & good info on quoting & estimations. Thanks.
