It's an afternoon for cake

The weather is absolutely gorgeous yet again and this morning we had a run out to a local plant nursery where  I bought some wallflowers and some viola. When we got back I spent a lovely hour planting them in the border at the front of the house.  If the weather continues being lovely and mild they are going to bush out really quickly before the winter months set in.  I adore the scent of wallflowers in the spring and the viola are going to make such a cheerful display when it's all cold and grey. Ruddy local cat has been doing it's business in my raised lettuce planter again and it makes me so angry. I've rigged a wire mesh cage and a cane barricade and I'm hoping that will stop the flaming manky thing.

I've very quickly worn myself out though which is such a shame when the weather is so nice and I could do so much more out there.  I do hope this bug doesn't linger for much longer  and I can enjoy being outdoors for the rest of the unseasonably mild weather. It's an afternoon on the sofa with a book for me now and  I just fancy a slice of  cake and was pondering whether to make one when Tony volunteered to nip out to Tesco to buy one. He'll be there and back in twenty minutes and I bet he buys more than cake.  It's ages since we had a sweet treat and sometimes when you want cake nothing else will fill that gap. Is the weather being kind to you today? I do hope so. x

  1. Hello Cherie. Just catching up. Hoping you feel better soon and wishing Tony all the best for his procedure when it happens. It's chilly but fairly bright here today, my washing is pegged out and hopefully I won't have to do a mad dash down the garden to rescue it. xxx

  2. I just got back from a 40 minute dog walk. Barely needed a sweater at 8:15 a.m. it's going to be mid 70's F here today and tomorrow then back to seasonal norms.

  3. Lovely to have some nice weather as it isn't playing nicely at all here, though we don't live in one of the flood prone areas, but still grey, wet and miserable. Don't overdo it till you are feeling 100% and do hope that cake was yummy. I'm still mending after my fall which evidently fractured 3 ribs, so now I know why I'm sore around my rib cage. Take care & enjoy the sunny days. Hugs.

    1. Ouch, you poor thing. Cracked ribs are horribly painful until they heal.I never think of Oz as grey, wet or miserable. I always think of blue skies and sunshine.

  5. Now I am wondering what cake Tony brought back for you . . .

It's wet here right now (Sunday) but yesterday was nice. It's still unseasonably mild - no complaints!. xx

  6. I love wallflowers. My grandmother always grew them. I hope you shake the bug off soon.
