This morning I'm going to Newcastle with my friend Jayne. She has an appointment with some sort of dental specialist at the hospital there and is scared stiff poor love. She asked me ages ago if I'd go with her and of course I said yes. Jayne is always beautifully dressed and dead glam so I have made a bit of an effort and glammed up a bit. Don't want to be the scruffy friend now do I :-) in truth it's lovely to have a reason to dress up a bit as Tony's idea of dressing up is a clean pair of jeans and a different t shirt. I don't think he owns a pair of smart casual trousers so it's either full blown suit or jeans. Oh how I wish men would make a bit of an effort now and then. He's decided he is going to have one meal a day... Is this because he's wanting to lose weight? .. Pah!!!! he's too bone idle to make his own salad boxes. I'm currently on strike :-) and not making up the salads for him to just lift out of the fridge each morning. He did the same with breakfast ages ago when I stopped making his overnight oats. Claims to do without breakfast... yeah right!! He'll be munching on bacon butties every morning at work. Sooze, I'm thinking along the same lines as you. Nuff said....
I've no idea how long we'll be at the hospital or how Jayne is going to feel after she has been poked and prodded so I have no idea what this afternoon will bring. I hope to be able to pickle a bit more beetroot as I boiled up too much yesterday when I was pickling beetroot. I added mustard seeds to the vinegar for a bit of heat and the beetroot looks so pretty in the jars. I'll be fighting my way through the tomato mountain for a couple of months and every now and then I go through them to take out any that are going a bit soft. I might have a go at fermenting some of them as I have read that they taste really nice. perhaps I'll make a small jar of them just to see if I like them.
Poor lady, I know how she feels, how lovely she's got your company. My husband has some nice clothes but rarely wears them, he wears the same old scruffy baggy stuff all the time. I make him change his clothes if we're going out anywhere, I've said I'm not going anywhere with a scarecrow or tramp!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a universal thing with men and their clothes the scruffy oiks.
DeleteI thought exactly the same thing on Saturday at the wedding. It was so nice to have the opportunity to wear my nicest clothes including that Seasalt dress I bought at Bury St Edmunds and Mum's smart jacket.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Jayne. I feel for her and hope it is as simple and easy as possible. xx
Thankfully she never felt a thing.
DeleteWhat is it about men and their clothes? He wears the same scruffy pull overs here too. He has oodles of lovely brand new polo style shirts.
ReplyDeleteWe are all in the same boat with our men by the look of it.
