Fire's lit

Tony is off to the hospital for a battery of tests today and before I head out for my walk I've kicked the fire into life.  He sits around far more than I do so will feel the cold when he gets up and he'll be glad to see a toastie fire. We aren't going to the hospital until 2pm so it's an awful lot of sitting around feeling cold. It took me less than five minutes to get the fire going and by the time he gets up it will be well lit.  I've filled the coal skuttle so we won't need to go out into the garage to refill it and the room can stay lovely and warm. Last night we were so warm we had the sitting room door open letting the heat rise upstairs to warm the bedrooms.

I want to see if there are any more windfall pears when I go for my walk in ten minutes.  The local kids kick them along the street and make a right old mess so I like to get out early and see what's about.  I might walk past the walnut tree too and see if there's anything worth gathering.

    1. Thanks Vix. I'm keeping everything crossed that it isn't anything serious.

  4. Hope Tony's tests show what the problem is. We actually lit our fire last night too, although it wasn't freezing, but ever so damp & a little cool. So much flooding through parts of N.S.W., Victoria & Tasmania, which is quite worrying. We are OK here. Many windfalls for you this morning? Take care & hugs.

  7. There's nothing quite like a proper fire is there. Sounds wonderful.
Good luck to Tony for his tests today.
