I've had a busy morning so far preserving some of my tomato mountain. Some are currently drying in the oven and the rest I packed in jars and covered with brine. They will become fermented tomatoes and it'll be interesting to see what they taste like as I've never tried making them before

I have also made a huge pan of veggie and lentil soup. It's quite heavily tomato based but I added chilies, leeks, runner beans and a courgette. It already tastes gorgeous so by tea time it's going to be amazing and I'll warm a baguette in the oven and spread it with garlic butter for dipping into the soup.
Zippy our little friend is coming tonight but after tea I will be stripping paper off again with my friend so won't see her till I get home. Tony is going to take care of her till I get back.
Isn't this a pretty sight though? They will be a lovely treat in the cold dark months of winter... if it works.

Soup and a warm garlic butter smeared baguette is perfection. Enjoy Zippy.
ReplyDeleteLovely autumn food. x
DeleteIt's like you're storing up the summer and all your hard work (and pleasure) growing them. The soup sounds amazing. Please pass on scritches to Zippy from me.
ReplyDeleteZippy has been well and truly scritched :-)
DeleteSounds like you've been really busy! It will be nice to have them through the winter though
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what they are going to taste like but it was worth it if it stops them going to waste
