Another lovely day by the look of it

Sun's shining and I'm hoping that today will be another lovely day.  Yesterday was gorgeous and we managed to create a lovely mini orchard in my front garden.  We now have two varieties of apple, one plum, two varieties of pear, a fig and a loquat out there. I spent a while swotting up on how to keep them all at a manageable height so they don't become too big for me to harvest fruit. I want to keep them at around 6ft tall with perhaps a 4ft spread. The blossom in Spring will be beautiful and any fruit that we get will be a bonus.  I did have to sacrifice my beautiful bottle brush plant put it's only pretty for a week and a ruddy nuisance the rest of the time so it had to go to make space for my 'Champion' apple. I also planted a Golden Delicious and today I have a Conference pear, an apple called Elstar and a Cox's apple to plant in the back garden.  I'm just waiting for the sun to rise above the house and hit on the area that I want to put the trees.

In the back garden I already have two varieties of plum, Mirabelle and a Stanley. There's three varieties of apple, Gala, Red Falstaff and Ligol  (not counting my neighbour's huge tree and there's also a Williams pear.  I'll be adding a conference pear and the two other apple varieties today. How's the weather where you are

  3. Weather not too bad at the moment, but with another La Nina even forecast for this year and dams already at full capacity on the east coast, not sure whether we'll have the best summer. Ooh, I was looking at fruit trees the other day too, but on our steep slope & after my nasty fall, not sure with gardening for a little time yet, which I need to do for my wellbeing. Enjoy those fruit trees & we'll follow the progress. Take care & hugs.
