Can you help?

During the coldest days of winter I will be running my wood burner constantly.  On our local website I've asked if any elderly ladies would like to come a couple of days a week and share the warmth and a meal. I can cook a big pan of soup using veg from the garden. The kettle will sit on top of the wood burner and the ladies can drink tea and coffee whenever they fancy a cup.  I know this wouldn't suit everyone but I wondered whether you have an elderly neighbour that could perhaps spend the daylight hours a couple of days or even hours a week with you. I hate to think of some poor old soul sitting in a freezing cold house with no company.  Let's all do whatever we can to help one another through what is likely to be a miserable cold winter for many people.

  1. That's really lovely. I work from home so easily could have someone join me. I'm in a neighborhood that's more younger families or newer empty nesters, but I could also visit others, bringing tea and soup.

    1. I'm looking forward to making new friends. I used to host a weekly craft group here and often we had ten or more people. Everyone brought their own lunch and it was great fun.

  2. This has made me realise how isolated we are. We know so few people. Perhaps it's a good reminder for me to reach out.
