A busy old day

I've had a really busy day today. After my morning walk I came home and set to taking all the tomatoes off the front garden plants and my kitchen now looks like an explosion in a greengrocers.  There's a huge pile of tomatoes, some lovely beetroot and a little pile of aubergines. I'll need to deal with them all tomorrow... I'll put a video on my gardening blog for anyone that might be interested. This afternoon I made myself a cup of coffee and sat for an hour and watched the heartbreaking procession of our Queen's coffin. I'm sure it looked spectacular to anyone able to be there and watch it all unfold.  My heart aches for our poor Royal family who haven't had a minute's privacy to grieve.

We've been over to our friends for tea and a lovely social evening today and are both practically falling asleep. We'll be away to bed in five minutes or so. How's your day gone?

  1. Sounds busy, but at least you've plenty to store in various ways. Good to get a night off from cooking ready to start tomorrows marathon task. Take care & hugs.

    1. I won't need to cook today or tomorrow either as I made the leek and pasta bake the other day. All I need to do is pop it in the oven later today and serve it with a nice side salad.

  2. She was a very loved queen. I love watching the processions. It's all so civilized. How wonderful to have all of those tomatoes!

    1. Elizabeth was a wonderful queen and she is a sad loss to us all. My freezer has loads of bags of tomato based sauces and they will be very useful in the winter months.

  3. My toms are still ripening on the plants but the plants themselves are looking extremely tatty now. I'll give them a bit more time but I think it is ho! for green tomato chutney this year! xx

    1. I left a big tray of green ones to ripen slowly last season and they lasted us right through to March this year. If' you have the space to store them it's worth doing
