Alexander has just rung to say that they've put in an offer on a house about twenty minutes walk from us. The offer has been accepted and they've already sold theirs privately to a young woman. Alexander told me that an estate agent reckoned that he could get them close on twenty thousand pounds more but they're selling it to the young woman. She couldn't afford to pay any more and they are happy with her offer. Alexander tells me he doesn't want to be any part of pushing prices up out of the reach of young people buying their first house. I do love that son of mine and it will be lovely to have him and Beckah within a walking distance. He was so excited when he rang and I can't wait till they live a bit closer. Not that he lives a million miles away now but it's not within walking distance.
That is amazing news! So happy for you (and you did a good job raising a good man!)
ReplyDeleteHe's a great kid and his wife is the same.
DeleteYou've obviously instilled good values into him, well done you. Will be lovely to have them nearby.
ReplyDeleteHe's only glad to be in a financial position that allows him to do this.
DeleteYou should be very proud of your son. Price gouging is a very real thing here in the states and it hasn't gotten much better. Ridiculous prices. Young people here are having a very difficult time finding something that they can afford. Difficult to downsize also, because of crazy prices. He's a good man. Ranee (MN) USA
ReplyDeleteHe's a good kid. Tony and I would love to downsize but prices here are ridiculous.
DeleteSuch good news. It's so difficult for our young people round here in the South to get on the housing ladder. My friend's son had sold his flat and was able to offer the asking price in cash for a house round here when someone moving out from London offered £18k more and he lost it. It's happening like that all the time here at the moment. Arilx
ReplyDeletePrices down in the south make my eyes water. You can practically buy a mini mansion up north for the cost of a two up two down street house down south.
DeleteHey, how exciting!!!! So close. Think of Melbourne(big place).....us on the eastern side in a country region, my DD in western side suburb, our 2 boys interstate, as in northern N.S.W. & Canberra & DH's DD in Yorkshire, UK. So far away for all, but we keep in touch by various means. So happy for you, take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteWe love wattsapp for keeping in touch. It's been a great way to keep in touch with my friend down in Kent.Best of all it's free to use.
DeleteHow wonderful and good for Alexander and Beckah. I love having my two living so close by - it's just so nice and we are lucky, aren't we?

I do feel very blessed these days Joy. Beckah is such a lovely person and I'm so pleased that they got together. His previous girlfriend was jealous of any time he spent with me.
