Hmmmn

I had a thoroughly lovely festive meal at 'The Southern Cross' last night. So much so that I've booked for Tony and I to go there on just before Christmas. It was an absolute bargain at £14.99 for three thoroughly delicious courses.  I couldn't manage to eat all the main course as the plate was filled to overflowing so we have decided to have a main course and a dessert when we go. It's not very often that we get out for meal together even though I have been out rather a lot with friends recently.

And as for the Hmmmmmmn...........  I found out today that my next door neighbour died.... Two weeks ago. It never crossed the mind of his wife to tell me when she saw us in Tesco the other week...  or when we were working in the garden the other day and she was having a ciggie in her garden.  She's always been a bit odd and only ever speaks if I speak to her first... or if I am handing her fresh veggies/flowers from the garden.  It doesn't feel appropriate though to share a festive jumper photo so I'll keep it for tomorrow.

  1. I guess it goes to show people deal with grief differently. It's nice that you've been good neighbors to her.

  2. Strange, but then we are all different. I am always gobsmacked at how much they pile onto plates when we visit UK & usually ask for a child's meal or stick to entrees or something I know comes in small portions. Look forward to seeing the next jumper installment. Take care & hugs.

    1. The amount they put on our plates is crazy. It would probably feed a family of four at a pinch.

  3. Glad you had a good time out!

That is...strange, but maybe she just didn't know how to say it or didn't want to talk about it. I know that when mum died I dreaded telling people as it made me cry and I hated crying in front of people.

  4. Oh, dear. I'm so sorry about your neighbour and I guess we all deal with these things in different ways.
The meal sounds lovely. It's nice that you have it to look forward to again before The Day.

    1. I've had a thoroughly festive month so far and I'm fighting a losing battle with the diet.

  5. Tis true that we all cope with grief in different ways and sometimes the loss of somebody close does not impact a person until some time after the event. Your neighbour does sound a tad odd (but nothing in my recently ex neighbours league m’thinks) but she’s handling her loss as she can, you never know she may well seem less odd in the future as you cannot always account for the dynamics of her relationship with her now departed husband.
