We were supposed to be going to a carol service this evening but given the rise in covid cases have decided to avoid it. We plan to avoid any unnecessary gatherings in small enclosed venues in the hope that others will do the same and the New Year's Eve Ceilidh will go ahead. Although it isn't 100% my arm is feeling so much better now and hopefully I'll sleep a bit better as it's woken me a few times these past few nights. A few days discomfort is a price that I am more than willing to pay. Tomorrow is my last whist session this year and we have a meal booked in a big hotel. Experience tells me that the tables are very well spaced so I have few concerns about attending though I will have my mask with me in case it's needed. It may be the last hotel we are able to support for quite some time and it will be a crying shame if it doesn't survive any further restrictions.
Has it been warm in your neck of the woods? It's been incredibly mild today here in the frozen north and if I hadn't been so tired due to lack of sleep would have worked out in the garden all day. Tomorrow I am getting my hair cut before heading off to the Christmas meal and won't be back until around four thirty so it won't be a gardening day tomorrow either. Maybe I'll do a bit at the weekend if it stays dry.
We had over 18 inches of snow over last Friday into Saturday and last night a thunderstorm and torrential rains, and a high of 57F! It's crazy weather changes here in the upper midwest of the US, and the poor folks hit by tornadoes. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever seen 18 inches of snow. I bet it looked beautiful.
DeleteSorry you couldn't go to your carol service but probably best. I'm avoiding things that I can. I still wear my mask. It was freezing and snowing here in Michigan last week and today it's unseasonably warm. It won't last though and is quickly dropping as we speak!
ReplyDeleteTemperature today is a big difference. We had a heavy frost this morning.
