A busy day so far

After being awake most of the night I went back to bed just before 6 this morning and woke at 9.30. I had a quick bath and a cup of coffee then Tony and I went out for a walk as he has hardly set foot over the step in weeks other than to go shopping. When we got back we set to and skinned two packs of chicken drumsticks which I then marinated in a jar of Patak's Balti paste mixed with olive oil.  There's 24 drumsticks currently marinating and they only cost £2.84 for over 2 kilo's. The balti paste was about £1.40 and they are going to be so tasty by tomorrow.  I'm putting a buffet tea together tomorrow and am trying to add plenty of meaty things so I am not tempted to hit the carb loaded junk food. I'll leave that for the others if that's what they fancy. I 'm making half the table vegetarian and half for the meat eaters along with the usual chocolate  yule log and mince pies.

Once the drumsticks were dealt with I went out into the veg plot and picked a few carrots, two small celeriac and a head of celery to add to the lamb bone that is simmering way and becoming the most flavoursome stock. I'll leave it another hour and then let it cool for the freezer. It'll be handy to have in as a soup base. The blimmin arm is really uncomfortable and I'm hoping it clears up quickly whatever the cause is but wondered whether the carbs haven't helped.  I'm back on track now and will stay away from them as much as possible. Tony can tuck into as many mince pies as he wants but I am staying completely away from them. I found an interesting video yesterday and it really does make me wonder what on earth we are shoving down our throats.

  1. I hope your arm feels better soon, Cherie. I've had Tennis Elbow for the last three months and it's no fun at all. xxx

  3. Hope you get some sleep soon! I hope the arm heals soon too. I've been having trouble with my shoulder for a while. I may have to give in and go to the doctor. I keep hoping it will heal on its own but it's been a long time now. Sigh.

The food sounds wonderful. It's lovely how you have catered for all tastes!

Ditto with sleep - not sleeping is a right nuisance.

Lovely food though - delicious sounding.
