While at the ceilidh on Saturday night I ran into a former work colleague. Gaynor now runs a small pottery workshop in beautiful Danby in North Yorkshire. Tony and I vowed a long time ago that we would learn something new together every year so we intend to book a couple of sessions in the new year and if it's something you might like to try your hand at you can contact Gaynor at her website... Holiday Cottage - Holly Cottage foraging and retreat (hollycottageforagingretreat.co.uk)
You can stay overnight too... or make a weekend/longer break of it. It's beautiful there and well worth a visit even if pottery isn't your thing. Why not book a short stay in the accommodation that Gaynor and her husband run. It would make the perfect place to spend a honeymoon, special anniversary or birthday. Danby is on the Whitby line so you could jump on the train to Whitby and enjoy a visit too. If you do book with Gaynor and fancy a meet up either in Danby or Whitby let me know. We'll jump in the car and drive over for a cuppa in the tea room or a picnic in Danby or we'll hop on the train and meet you in Whitby.
Gaynor will accommodate groups of up to four people but asks for a minimum of two in the pottery sessions and you aren't limited to throwing pots. After seeing John's soup spoons on the Going Gently (disasterfilm.blogspot.com) I'm hoping to make a small soup bowl and matching spoon when we book.

That sounds so like something I'd love to do, but alas will we ever get to come over again, what with such world-wide chaos & our age creeping forward. I love Whitby & driving over Danby Moor is quite breathtaking. Take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteWith a bit of luck we will beat this darn virus and life can return to normal... oh I do hope we get to meet one day. xxx
DeleteThanks for this - I so miss pottery classes but maybe the N Yorks Moors are a little too far. I will have to ponder. xx
