Tony and I have been for our flu jab today and then treated ourselves to lunch out. My plate was so full that I couldn't possibly eat it all so I asked the staff to box it up so I could bring it home. There's more than enough left for Tony's tea tomorrow if I steam a few veggies. It was what I had in mind when I ordered as we know the portions are huge at the pub. I simply divided it all in half on the plate before I started eating. It's well worth paying for a larger portion than you want to eat if you are comfortable asking for the remainder to be boxed up. The larger portion is usually only an extra pound or two and makes a lovely ready meal for the following day.
We decided to change some of our low energy lightbulbs for ones with a higher output as I was sick to death of the piddly amount of light that came out of the ones in our ceiling lights. Tony didn't think our lightshades would be suitable for the new bigger bulbs so we bought two beautiful new ones and put the old ones in the hall and landing. The ones from the hall and landing are made of glass and a bit old fashioned looking but they make pretty plant pot covers.
The photo isn't showing them very well but trust me... they are nice.
Good idea to take what you can't eat home - pub meals are always huge.
ReplyDeleteUsing the lampshade as a plant pot is a brilliant idea! That has got me thinking where did I put that lamp I took down. As for the pub meal...very sensible and I have no qualms about asking for the leftovers to be taken home. It was something that was frowned on not long ago here but not any more it isn't! Careful with the ladder :-) Amanda x
