Elderberry syrup

I'm so glad that I always carry a plastic bag with me at this time of year. This morning I managed to pick a load of elderberries while out for my early morning walk. When I got back I turned it into three pints of  elderberry syrup.  I've added ginger and cinnamon to this batch and tomorrow I am planning on making rosehip and elderberry syrup. There's tons of rosehips just around the corner from me in the pub car park.

Alexander has invited Tony and me to a barbecue this evening and asked if we would like to go and take a look at a wedding venue... I'm intrigued.  Beckah is coming to pick us up as Tony has put the car into the repair shop today expecting a replacement car.  It wasn't there when he dropped the car off so I have no idea whether he has one or not until he gets home.

I've picked a mini salad box and popped a little bottle of the elderberry syrup in for them to try.

This is not a jar of lawn mowing's honestly.  :-) It's dried spring onion tops that I have whizzed up in my blender  It's going to be great for  adding flavour to soups, stews and gravies through the coming months.

Not dried and bottled lawn trimmings  :-)

  1. Elderberry syrup is so good for warding off colds in the winter isn't it....probably even more valuable now! And ooh, a bit of excitement this evening!

The glass jar does look like grass clippings!

  2. I'm going foraging for elderberries later this week. I like to use them with blackberries in a compote. X
