Kirkleatham walled garden and museum

Yesterday Tony and I went along to a local walled garden that has just re opened after being closed for thirty years. While we were there we got talking with a man who asked whether we had seen the exhibition in the museum which was practically next door.  We hadn't so we decided that after the walk around the walled garden and a stop for a cuppa in the cafe we would do just that. It's incredible to think that we have so many wonderful places to visit less than a twenty minute drive away. We paid for a years membership to the walled garden at the grand cost of £6 each.  The day ticket would have been £4 so it was a no brainer really.

I love a nice 'water blade' feature and there were three of these all feeding into a rill that  runs right down the centre of the walled garden. It turned into a glass covered feature running through the entrance foyer

I love this amazing water ducting system. It runs all the way through the walled garden and is a beautiful feature

The garden has only been open a few days and they have been tortured by the local rabbit population eating everything in sight.  They have had to put clear perspex sheets around the bottom of the beautiful gates to stop the little so and so's getting in.

We are planning on going at least once each month to see how it changes and progresses over the year.

  2. OMg, it looks beautiful & I'll admit you do have a lot of lovely places not far that you can visit again, now that things are opening up there. I hope we'll see some more of your adventures locally through the seasons. Take care & hugs.
