This weekend we have been away to Lytham St Anne's to celebrate my birthday and what a beautiful town it is. Vix, you were right about it being windy, we've been well and truly sand blasted. It's a short drive to/from Blackpool and well worth a visit if you are looking for a short break away. The beach is absolutely vast and if the weather had been a bit better we would have enjoyed a lot more walks than we did. The towns of both Lytham and St Anne's have the most beautiful wide streets and Tony reckons he could happily live there. The people were so friendly and we had a gorgeous meal in a little Thai restaurant/take away. We booked a table and were glad that we had as it quickly got busy. The food was flipping gorgeous and the portions very generous. On the drive over we hit a huge traffic jam and had to turn around and find another route. We are so glad we had as we found a gorgeous pub called 'The Punch Bowl' on Skipton road in Earby. We each had a plate of cheesy peperoni chips and oh my word they were delish. The staff/landlady? were smashing and the pub was beautiful. It was immaculately clean and a real pleasure to visit.
We stayed in the Hollingworth Hotel and loved every second of it. The hosts were lovely people and the bedroom was spotlessly clean. We like a good breakfast and theirs didn't disappoint. It was well placed for a good explore of the surrounding area and we'd happily stay there again. It was nice to be able to park at the hotel too as often there isn't a car park at guest houses
Sounds like it was a lovely weekend away. I've been to Blackpool a couple of times, but not Lytham St. Annes, though K knows where it is. Great to have good service when away at both restaurants & accommodation. Take care & hugs.
