Isn't nature beautiful

Isn't it hot lately.  I'm having real trouble sleeping and spend most of the day feeling like a wrung out rag. Last night Tony put a couple of hot water bottles in the fridge and we took them up to bed with us  and it was utter bliss putting my feet on them through the night.

This morning I've been picking fresh salad for the packed lunches. I've added some of the radishes that I pickled a while ago. Just look at that glorious colour and the pattern on them, aren't they  pretty. The pink has seeped right into the flesh and they look stunning in the salad. I used white vinegar to pickle them and they look and taste gorgeous.  Everything in today's salad is fresh from the garden and it's lovely wandering around picking things to add.  There's even a few of the last remaining peas in there.

In the salad bowl I've put peas, lettuce, cucumber, chard, baby kale, calendula, tomatoes, beetroot leaves and basil. All fresh picked from the garden.,

  1. That looks delicious. I remember when I was a kid, the radish were the first vegetable ready in the garden, and we would have them as a side dish with white vinegar sprinkled over them. So good! It's been hot here, too, and the humidity is high, which makes it feel even worse. Too bad we couldn't save some of the heat until winter.

    1. It's a nice thought but then we wouldn't have snowmen or icicles :-)

  3. Your salad bowl looks yummy & could you send a little warmth over here please. We are struggling getting into the teens at the moment & had lots of rain again with minor flooding in some surrounding areas. Take care & hugs.

    1. There has been some alarming flooding all over the world this past few weeks. It must be terrifying to live through a catastrophic flood mustn't it.

  4. Absolutely fantastic and, I agree, the close one looks at nature, the more amazing it is.
