I'm self isolating ... update

I'm absolutely gutted this morning.  I got up and checked my phone to find a message from the NHS app telling me I  have to self isolate for 7 days. We were supposed to be going to our friends for a social evening and a bite of supper and Elaine has gone to such a lot of trouble to cook something that fits in with my Keto diet. It was so kind of her and touched me enormously that she would bother to do that.  I wouldn't care if I mixed in public a lot but I don't. The only thing I do is walk every morning with a friend... she doesn't have the app on her  phone so it isn't her. The only thing I can think it might be is the school kids. We are  on the walking route for the local secondary school and I have to pass groups of young people walking to school. Tony's phone hasn't pinged so he hasn't been in contact with anyone. Just done a test to see if I have any sign of covid. Thankfully nothing has shown up.

Turns out the contact must have been in Aldi on Tuesday evening as that is the only place I had been on Tuesday.  Annoyingly I can be fined if I don't self isolate even though there's very little chance that I am infected as I was wearing a mask at the time and didn't speak to anyone. Oh well I will get a lot done on the dolls house this coming week as I am not even allowed to go out for exercise and must stick to exercising in the garden.

    1. I signed up to the NHS track and trace app. I'm not sure how it works but I think it might be based on location. If someone close to me has the app on their phone then I am automatically notified if they test positive.

  2. I understand the good side of an app like that, but it almost feels like it punishes the ones who use it and allows everyone else to be blissfully unaware and unfettered, doesn't it? I hope your seven days goes by quickly for you.

  3. I'm not fully aware how all the systems work, but your Aldi theory sounds as though it may be the one if someone else in the store at the time you visited has tested positive. Hope you are OK & as you didn't speak to anyone & had your mask on, at least you've done the right things. Take care & enjoy working on your doll house.

  4. Oh boy, you might have to isolate regularly. Sorry to hear you will have to miss your get together with your friends. It sounds difficult, with all of the requirements.

  5. Oh, what an utter nuisance for you, especially as the chances of actually carrying it are so small. Still, as you say, time to have fun at home one way and another. xx

  6. errmmmm....everybody seems to be getting pinged , but nobody seems to have any idea where or why , all a bit strange . Daughter got pinged she hasnt been out for months due to illness then her son got pinged so hes off school , most of daughters friends have been pinged all test negative , no idea why . As they say a good idea badly managed for the cost

    1. Couldn't agree more. Uninstalled it ages ago when it was doing the same thing.

  7. What a shame, there seems to be a lot of this happening and people have now switched the app off. Not sure it is all effective.
