Big decisions and a few photo's

For the past few years we have dabbled with the idea of moving house. We had hoped to drive down to Scunthorpe this weekend and view a property with a garden nearly 300 feet long. We've been pipped to the post as it's now sold. We've looked around a few areas and have come to the conclusion that we would have to get rid of far too much stuff if we are going to buy a smaller house. We're staying put but still planning on getting rid of loads of stuff. The whole experience has made us aware of how lovely our house and garden is and just much stuff we have that we never actually use.  This afternoon I used the strimmer to cut the lawn and realised that it's far easier to use the strimmer than to drag the lawnmower out.  It's now on the rehoming list. Likewise the 'drinks cabinet'. The 'drink' could go on a shelf in the garage and the crystal glasses could be moved to a kitchen cupboard. It's a huge cabinet and takes up a big space in the conservatory. Pretty much it's full of junk that we never even look at. It might be heading out to a new home too. I'm assessing everything and seeing if I want to keep it.  It's very liberating

I've just picked a little bunch of sweetpeas and the scent is knockout

My friend Maureen has painted a whole selection of mini artworks for my dolls house.  I will have fun making tiny frames for them.

  1. Your friends paintings are really delightful. That will certainly add a very special touch to your dolls house. We also are thinking along the same lines about getting rid of 'stuff'. Our plan is to eventually down size to a small two bedroom apartment or house near the beach so we will have to get rid of some of our furniture. It won't happen yet or next year but post-covid definitely. keep well Amanda x PS: In reply to your question on my last post comments. I have lived in Spain for approx 48 years. :-)

    1. Do you speak Spanish in the home or do you still speak English

    2. I mostly speak Spanish to Sr P although he does speak English. Except when I am angry and then it has to be in English! :-)

  2. Sometimes it is good to come to a decision then you can move forward. Now if I could only persuade my husband to get rid of some stuff! Been working on that for years to little or no avail. You do have a lovely home and garden, glad you decided to stay put. XXXXX

  3. Love the mini pictures & your friend is very talented. Clearing out must be catching & we really need to get rid of stuff. I've made a bit of a start & need to keep at it. Have fun making the frames, take care & hugs.

    1. I've made a good start. Now I need to encourage Tony to start decluttering his junk.

  4. Those little paintings are amazing. Lovely to have genuine original art work in the dolls' house.
You've worked so hard on the garden, it would be sad to leave it behind and move. Decluttering sounds the way to go so good luck with that.

    1. I'm finding it easier to get rid of stuff than Tony is.

  5. Take care, you just know that you will need that something that you've thrown out, lol
I need to reduce my craft stuff and fabric and do attempt it sometimes but never quite manage to be brave enough to get rid of it even though at 75 I know that I will never use most of it. Only another craft person would understand.

    1. My friend Anona has a theory. If you empty a space in your craft room then someone will give you twice as much. She's right too.

  7. Yeah we have often pondered selling the old ramen shop which is now our family home. But to get anything decent or near our size for our family of 5 might be 6 we don’t know yet!! Would be way out of our price range in Tokyo. Plus we have an underground garage and a small courtyard garden which is rare in shinjuku.
Plus it’s the land the delvopers want not our house which is worth bugger all. As they build offices near us and we get offers all the time. And I don’t fancy 2 hour commute to work instead of a 10 minute commute.
Plus it’s been in Japanese interiors magazines and people tell us we are crazy if we sell it. So it looks like they will carry us out of there.
My parents had the same problem but now they are really building on Wynyard they are selling and moving to the lakes as my mum was born there. But you are right just think . Take care and keep safe
