Poppies

Last night we had a lovely social evening with our friends. I cooked a pork casserole using some of the bone broth that I made last weekend. It turned out really tasty and I served it with mixed veggies but no potatoes or rice. Dessert was a delicious Keto friendly chocolate brownie with fresh cream that I adapted from my keto cookery book. Only five grams of carbs per portion so well within our 20g daily allowance.  I'll put the recipe on my keto blog in case you would like to try it.

It was nice showing Elaine the changes that we have made to the garden since they were last here. The poppies in my garden have been absolutely stunning this year and despite being lashed with rain they have held up pretty well

Calendula (marigolds) that I grew from seed are looking exceptionally bright. I gathered the seed from a hedgerow plant so they haven't cost me anything

I decided to put my aeonium outside into the border to see if it it will grow large. I'll have to bring it back inside during the winter but already it's looking darker and stronger.  I had overwatered the parent plant and the poor thing just keeled over and died.  I cut the top and side shoot from it and managed to root it. I'm glad I didn't lose it as it adds a little drama to the garden

My patchy bit of lawn is at long last starting to grow, I've spent a small fortune on grass seed and it seems to have taken ages to develop a nice green fuzz. There'll be no stopping it now.

  1. Lovely poppies, must be a good year for them. There's a load of poppies running alongside our neighbour's fence, she didn't put them there, they just appeared. She can't actually see them from her house, but they're giving us a lovely show.

  2. Just doing some blog catch up now that our intermittent i'net problems seem to have subsided. Glad to hear you've had some rain & the garden is being refreshed. I feel like you are always doing, so your urge must have been to craft something in particular, so did anything come to fruition? Take care & hugs.

    1. It's a big project that I am working on and it will be a while before it's completed.
