Who would have thought that a diet could consist of double cream, full fat cheese, fried bacon and eggs and butter. I can hardly believe my eyes when I step on the scales each morning and see another pound missing. We went shopping this morning and filled the trolley with things I would never have even glanced at for a general shop before. There's even dark chocolate allowed... not a lot admittedly but at least it will satisfy a sweet tooth craving,. We bought bacon from the butchers and celeriac from a lovely greengrocers. Tomorrow I am cooking a roast pork dinner and we'll have roasted celeriac chunks instead of roast potatoes. My new Keto Kitchen cookbook has arrived and the almond flour. coconut flour and erythritol (natural sweetener) was delivered today from amazon. Sometime next week I plan on making some chocolate ice cream and some lemon ice cream using double cream..., yes you read that right.. double cream. I shall spend a few days next week trying to make a wrap style of bread so that we can have it with curry instead of rice or chapattis. I'll let you know how I get on over on my new Keto Journey blog. My Keto journey (cherieketojourney.blogspot.com)

Well done Cherie! I'm very interested, just had a look at your Keto blog, can you put a follower button on there please? xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sooze. I've done that
DeleteBe careful with this diet, Cherie. My sister-in-law suffered kidney damage from going keto. There is also a risk of kidney stones, elevated cholesterol, nutrient deficiencies, and other side effects. Maybe check with your doctor before you spend too much time on it. You know the old saying, If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny. It will be interesting to see how we get on. I am not sticking rigidly to the diet but drastically reducing the amount of carbs we eat. We will be eating fruit seasonally as we feel that's a more natural way of eating and I intend to have my cholesterol checked at some point. This is an interesting article worth reading https://draxe.com/nutrition/keto-diet-and-cholesterol/
DeleteI think all that fat would play merry hell with my gall bladder - or, rather, my not gall bladder. However, if it's working for you and Tony, that's the bottom line. xx
