A bit naughty

I've had not one but two of my banners pinched from lamp posts. Unfortunately the neighbourhood has had a lot of bother with gangs of youths causing mayhem so the banners have probably been snatched from the posts and slung under a hedge.  The youngsters are gathering in huge gangs and causing damage to gardens, cars and people's property. The police have been involved and everyone is up in arms about the situation. I did smile at the news when our neighbourhood was described as a 'Plush Leafy Suburb'. I never think of it that way though I do often wish I lived somewhere with a different cultural mix. Many years ago while on the way home from work on a bus, an older couple struck up conversation. When he asked where I lived and I told him he said.  It's only doctors, lawyers and teachers that live there.  Which one are you?...... I was almost embarrassed to admit that I was a teacher.

We had tea at Alexander and Beckah's last night. They'd bought a gas fired Pizza oven last year so we had a Pizza party in the garden.  Beckah's parents were there too and we all had a thoroughly lovely time sharing pizzas. Tony took a turn at making one from scratch adding all his favourite toppings and then it was shared with everyone.  Unfortunately we were all dressed for the warm weather day that it had been.  I took a thick fleece zip up top thinking I would be far too warm.... A mist came in very quickly, the temperature dropped and everyone was absolutely frozen to the marrow.  Next time we will put our thick coats in the car just in case.  I've borrowed this image from Tinterweb as it's the only picture of the oven I could find.  Pizza took barely a couple of minutes to cook in it so if you are a foodie that likes social cooking it would be well worth investing in one. I didn't even know such a  thing existed.

  1. Dear Cherie, I delight in this post but it's 1 a.m. and I feel silly. Both my parents were teachers and I was quite fond of them. We always lived on the rustic outskirts of California's capital, as have my wife and I. When I decided to go outdoors, after a decade of other jobs, I became a gardener of public places, for 36 years, and often came home rather plush and leafy. Happily, I was able to retire 12 years ago but still have many leafy moments. I suspect plush is transitory.

  4. Funny what people think of other suburbs & towns when you listen to them talking. The pizza party sounded good. Take care, stay safe and huggles.
