It's another bitterly cold, blue sky and sunshine kind of day. We've been to Stokesley to pick up some meat at the butchers and treated ourselves in the little bakers shop. I chose a Danish pastry and Tony chose a cheese scone. Both were absolutely delicious and a welcome treat with a cup of coffee. On the way back from Stokesley we called into the plant nursery and picked up three varieties of mint and a lemon thyme. They will be planted this afternoon in my herb planter and once established we can enjoy fresh herbs with our meals. I quite fancy making some peppermint tea as it's supposed to be really good for digestion.
I'm a horrible gardener, but I've been managing hosue plants well enough. I think I might get some pots of various herbs (is mint considered an herb). Tea from fresh mint sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love my house plants and might even try growing the peppermint as a house plant on my kitchen windowsill. It smells amazing.
DeleteI do enjoy a cheese scone.
ReplyDeleteI really got into mint tea in Morocco, served in pretty glasses and loaded with sugar (never touch the stuff normally!) xxx
We watched Fred Serieix 'Remarkable places to eat' on I player the other day He was in Marrakesh and the food looked divine.
DeleteOh, that sounds divine! I just love peppermint tea...
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to watching the mint grow and then to be able to harvest some.
DeleteLooks yummy & hope your herbs bring lots of flavour to your cooking. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI want to experiment with different flavours and start using more herbs in my cooking this year.
DeleteI love cake, I like to make cheese scones as you cannot get them in Tokyo unless you go to a posh department store and pay a eye watering amount. I love peppermint tea. But I am kind of strange and like it with drop of milk as I cannot drink it any other way. But like my twin says each to their own.
ReplyDeleteTony would choose a cheese scone over a sweet one but I am the complete opposite. Give me a date and walnut scone any day. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
DeleteI send "Poleo" peppermint tea from here to my sister in Devon every month. She says she can get it there but finds this Spanish version better. The use of herbal infusions is very extended here in Spain! If you want to try some just give me a shout and I will send you a packet. Your snack looks delicious! keep well Amanda x
ReplyDeleteYes please I would love to try some... What can I make/send you in return.
DeleteI offered Cherie so it is a gift and there is no need to send me anything in return :-) Please send me your address. My email link is on my contact page here. A x
