The weather has been absolutely gorgeous so Tony and I have worked out in the garden all day. Tony painting the pergola and me just pottering on. I've put the tall obelisk in the flower border next to the apple tree and my plan is to grow cucumbers up it this year. It had sweet peas last year but I won't be growing quite so many as I want to keep the tall supports/frames for edibles. The pond has a big cluster of frogspawn and many large frogs cuddling (wink wink). We've moved the large green recycling bin back to the front of the house and it's created more space down on the utility area for me to sit and enjoy the sunshine. It's very sheltered down there and the scent from the Daphne is gorgeous. It's hard to believe that even though the weather is lovely right now, it could change in the blink of an eye. There's still plenty of time for snow and ice to be a nuisance.
Its still changeable here and a little early for the garden, another week or two and a start can be made.
ReplyDeleteI'm sticking with hardy stuff at the moment. It will be about six weeks before I can plant anything remotely tender outside.
DeleteGood to hear about the nice weather & look forward to see progress with all your produce through the coming summer months. I was listening to 2 frogs chatting to each other on Sunday night & occasionally see one or two. Love the curly silver stakes. Take are & hugs.
ReplyDeleteI've had the curly stakes for more years than I care to remember. They are tomato supports and work a treat
DeleteIt sounds like we are doing similar prep work in the garden. Wishing you a productive beautiful garden this year.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It will be nice to compare notes and see how your garden develops.
DeleteLooks lovely :-) Do tell - what is the black pyramid thingy near the green water tub beside the mini Daffs ?????
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's a water feature. The water come out the top and trickles down all four sides
DeleteI found a facebook photo from eight years ago showing my mini daffs covered with snow! We had frost last night but fingers crossed we'll get nothing worse. xx
ReplyDeleteIt's quite chilly this morning. I've just switched the heating on.
DeleteIt was such a gorgeous day yesterday, I'm wondering if we're going to have similar weather to last spring, we were in lockdown around this time and the weather was gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI remember it well.It really was glorious wasn't it.
DeleteYes, we had sun yesterday and then it started snowing again today. Nobody expected it. Thank goodness for warm clothes and hand knits. That's great that you and Tony are spending so much time in the garden. It sounds like you replaced hip is doing well. You've come so far.
ReplyDeleteThe hip has come on leaps and bounds but the dodgy leg is unlikely to ever be the same.
DeleteWe got to see the sakuras they were beautiful. And the kids loved them. It’s a tad chilly here, but starting to warm up nicely.
ReplyDeleteI bet it's an incredible sight.
