It's been almost warm today and I've spent a good part of the day out in the garden sorting out raised beds and cleaning the pond pump filter. It's the first time this year that the pump has been on and oh boy did the sludge pong when I drained the pump housing. The water feature may have woken Mrs Frog from hibernation as she came to the surface and hovered there for a while when I turned the fountain on. It wouldn't surprise me if we have frogspawn in a few days time as the temperatures are starting to rise a bit. I'm hoping all our goldfish survived the winter as I could only see five of the nine today. I got around to putting a polythene cover on one of the raised beds in order to warm the soil a bit in preparation for the planting season. It will be here before we know it and I am already dreaming of sunny days out in the garden with my friends.
Glad you had an enjoyable day in the garden even though you were busy. Our weather is cooling, but we did have a lovely day yesterday as it was K's birthday & we went to buy him a new bench saw, then fish'n'chips at Dromana & a quick stroll on the beach, though there was a stiff cold breeze off the bay. Bought some plants on Sunday for a few more pots & I'll try & blog about that outing through the week. You may find it interesting. Take care, stay safe & hugs.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny Susan. I always thing of Oz as a belting hot country. I never think that it gets cold there.
DeleteWe have a VERY varied climate due to being such a large country & we live in the south, so experience quite cold winters & have even lived in places where we got snow several times each winter.
