This morning I have made a start on an applique cushion and although it will take me quite some time to finish it I have had a thoroughly lovely time in the craft room. The fabric has cost me nothing as I was given it all and I have several more components to add later on. I have bonded some of it to the backing fabric using iron on Bondaweb kind of stuff. This afternoon I am going to sit under my daylight lamp and stitch all the bits and pieces to the main fabric. As I progress with the cushion I want to add a little garden with a few mini pine trees and shrubs in various shades of green. I want to really play with this little piece and add French knots and perhaps a bird or two. Time will tell and I may very well change my mind.

That is going to look really nice. I have been in a rut, with nothing coming to mind lately buy like this idea of making something small that will take up some of my time. Being 80 years young and isolating can get pretty boring.
ReplyDeleteIsolating is no fun is it. This is going to be a nice little project to pick up and put down as the mood takes me. I intend to add lot's of simple embroidery as I go along.
DeleteOoh, this looks good and I'll enjoy the progress too and who cares if you change your mind along the way. I know I quite often do. Take care, stay safe & warm & hugs from down under.
ReplyDeleteI am having a lovely time practising embroidery stitches on it.
DeleteThat's really pretty. I'll enjoy watching it come together. It's something I've wanted to do - but I feel I should complete some of the projects I already have going!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to work my way through my fabric stash so this is a good project.
DeleteI'm trying to keep busy too, it's the horrid wet weather making things so much worse.
ReplyDeleteThankfully it looks like it's all melting today. I am looking forward to getting out for a walk again.
DeleteLove it. I am tackling pom pom mountain I have plains in mind garlands for the kitchen blinds for my back door and a Garland for the stairs. But my sewing machine still sits unused. I am sad to say. I can use it but I am scared of it.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you scared? Get some scrap fabric and just sew. Try all the different stitches on your machine and if you have extra machine feet have a look on you tube and learn how to use them. Be brave... You can do it. x
DeleteI have a bad habit of erm jamming the machine at work. So I don’t know why I convinced him to get me one. I am a bit rough!!
