My garden in January

It's rained heavily this morning and the garden is looking very sorry for itself. It's hard to believe that next month it will start to spring to life. In fact there are signs now that things are stirring.  Primula are flowering and if it stops raining I will pop out and take photographs of anything else that might be stirring. I love the little golden privet down the edge of the garden. In a few years time it will be a proper little hedge and will look like a slice of sunshine running along the edge of the garden. We will be keeping it to around four feet six tall. Just big enough to be private without blocking all the sunlight from the garden. We still can't get over how much lighter and brighter our sitting room is since we took the big Pyracantha hedge down.

The path is quite badly flooded and is worse than it looks in the photo.

That little hedge is going to be so pretty.

  1. We have had to make a few drainage holes and dig a soakaway due to the amount of rain we have had. A couple of areas here keep flooding. Sadly, still no signs of Spring as yet.
