The shortest day

Well that's the shortest day over and done with and we can now look forward to the days getting slowly but surely longer.  Of course we won't notice it for quite some time and we have to get through January which is usually a bitterly cold month. At least we have spring to look forward to and heaven knows we need something to look forward to right now.  I put in my order for some veggie seeds yesterday and ordered something called a 'Cucamelon'.  Has anyone grown them before?  They will be a nice addition to salads and are apparently very heavy cropping so should provide loads of the fruit or should that be veg? The inside of the shed had it's first coat of white and I will be heading out as soon as it's light to put another coat of paint on. It's a bit of a shame painting it as the wood was the most beautiful honey colour. It will be much lighter painted white though and as it's a small space it will need all the light it can get. With a bit of luck and dry weather I will start moving shelves and cupboards rom the big workshop into the little shed. I am looking forward to seeing how much I can salvage from the big shed.

  1. I grew cucamelon for 2 years, but could never get to like their taste, once they get going they are very easy to grow, 1st year I grew them in the greenhouse, 2nd year I had 1 plant in greenhouse and the other in the garden, made no difference to the crop. Good luck with them.

  2. Hi Cherie..love the house it looks amazing and i have a little shed envy going on here.
We have grown cucamelons..we did ours in hanging basket and they do crop well just keep them watered well...the taste is unique..a crossblend between cucumber and melon. I liked it but no one else did.In fact i am putting them on my to grow list for next year.
    have a good day
