First thing this morning we popped out to Tesco to get a few last Christmas presents. We saved a whopping £8.00 on the two bottles of booze that we bought. We didn't have a club card but the sales assistant suggested we borrow the lady at the next checkout's or we would have paid the full price. We were really pleased, as was the lady who will now have another £42 worth of points on her club card. We've bought a nice selection of goodies for the kitties. Always referred to as The Granddkits. That's Christmas all done and dusted now. We haven't gone overboard this year and we are both very mindful that it's going to be a difficult time for many many people. Tony and I are totally content with each other's company so it's going to be a very relaxed Christmas this year. Alexander and Beckah are a little disappointed as the family Christmas dinner (her parents and us) is being a bit trimmed down. Beckah's dad has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and his operation is scheduled for the 28th December. He has to isolate for two weeks before and two weeks after so they aren't able to join us all. . Beckah's brother and his wife are expecting their first baby in March so I will make a start on some baby knitting in the New Year. We know it's a boy and they like hand knitted things so I can have some fun knitting tiny things. Beckah is a smashing girl and it's as though she has been part of our family forever.
It sounds like your making the holiday as special as you can, meaning being with people or thinking about people who are loved.
ReplyDeleteTesco are really upping their game recently. In the last 10 days I had 3 money off coupons and a double points promotion. I used the £3 off £20 to restock my Brexit box.
ReplyDeleteIts amazing how much you save with a Tesco clubcard. The points too stack up quite quickly, I use mine to buy something for the foodbank I feel like I am doing some good and its not costing me anything. Baby knitting is such a joy.
ReplyDeleteSmaller doesn't have to mean 'less' or 'not so much love' and you prove that in your post. Thinking of others first is wonderfully warming.
ReplyDeleteIf the virus has taught me anything, it is to be content with the smell things in my life and to value them.
