Bottling the fruit vinegars

It's vinegar bottling day and being the domestic goddess what I is  (AKA tightwad) :-0  I couldn't bring myself to just compost the apples, pears and dates left from the process.  They are currently bubbling away with some sugar and ordinary shop bought vinegar.  They are going to make three or four decent jars of chutney. It will be lovely in a couple of months so I'm thinking ahead to Christmas now..  I've had to order more glass bottles for the Kombucha as I am filling them with vinegar at the moment. The Kombucha is absolutely gorgeous.  The elderberry one is wonderful and the pineapple one  tastes exactly like fizzy pineapple. The pear one is fine but nothing to write home about.

Two bottles of cider vinegar and one each of date and pear/rose petal

Well it would be  shame to waste it all

Give it an hour and it will be gorgeous

  1. What ingenious use of the fruit remains. Share an update once they are ready. I've never made vinegars-other than letting wine go bad, but imagine homemade would be phenomenal.

    1. I have put in sterilised jars and now need to leave it a couple of months to develop. It will be perfect for Christmas with some cold meats and pies.

  2. I'm convinced we were separated at birth, that's exactly what I would have done. I can't stand waste of any description. That will indeed make lovely chutney.
