Yesterday I happened to say to my walking buddy Marian that I couldn't remember the last time I had any reason to get dressed up nice. Then later on I had a message from my hairdresser... Would Marian I like a free pamper session today before the lockdown kicks in to say thanks for supporting them. This afternoon we are going for a haircut and a head massage and are going to get all dollied up. I think the last time I wore a nice dress was before my hip op eighteen months ago. My leg had been so badly swollen for many months and my boots and dress shoes wouldn't fit me. I have pretty much lived in stretch jeans since. I am off out for a walk soon and will definitely need wrapping up warm. There's frost on the shed roof today brrrrrrr chilly.
Can anyone suggest useful things I can buy to drop off at the food bank. Due to the lockdown Tony and I won't be able to get out and celebrate his birthday and I thought it would be helpful if I used the money I save to put together a parcel of useful stuff with a few treats for someone who might be struggling. Heaven knows, there are so many struggling just at the moment and I do know how that feels. Been there, worn that hat but just because my kids would pretty much eat anything I put in front of them I don't want to assume that other people's kids might do the same..
And I wish people were more like these kind souls.
That's why people like your hairdresser are so kind to you, Cherie, you're such a thoughtful person.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day of pampering. Our food bank often appeals for certain items although I know cash donations are very welcome, too. xxx
Bless you Vix. That's a lovely thing to say. x
ReplyDeleteI agree with Vix. You are a lovely lady.
ReplyDeleteTry looking online at your local food bank - they usually have lists of items they need.
xx
Bless you too Joy. xx I will take a look at our local food bank. They probably are the best ones to tell me what they need
DeleteYou lucky thing getting a hairdo just before lockdown. My last appointment had to be changed as my hairdresser went to Turkey on holiday, meaning she had to self isolate for 2 weeks on return. It was rescheduled for Monday 9th, so I'm praying that Nicola doesn't put Scotland in lockdown before that. God knows what she'll do, she always has to be at odds with Boris. I wish we were all singing from the same hymn sheet.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. It would be a lot less confusing if we all sang the same song
DeleteEnjoy your hair and pampering session. As for food bank things, maybe a few comfort items like biscuits, chocolate and sweets. The baskets are, always stacked with basics, pasta rice etc.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely Cherie. I like to give both things the banks are looking for, and cash as I understand they can buy a lot of shelf items wholesale so the money goes farther.
