It breaks my heart to see the grim toll getting bigger each day again. If everyone would wear a mask and observe the rules we could halt this dreadful virus. If you won't wear a mask then don't go where other people will be. And don't tell me you can't wear one. If you are so ill then you shouldn't be out where people are anyway. Don't go coughing or breathing on food I might need to buy. Don't endanger my life and the lives of other people. Just wear the blimmin thing. None of us like wearing one but if it keeps us safe then it's our duty to. Give a thought to the mental health of NHS staff that might need to treat you through your own stupidity. It must be horrendous for them to see so much death and serious illness.
We met a lady in the supermarket recently who said that she couldn't wear a mask for medical reasons. However, she still wanted to do what she could so she was wearing one of the visors instead. It seemed like a commonsense alternative. Arilx
ReplyDeleteAnything that creates a barrier and keeps us even a tiny bit safer is great
DeleteUnless you wear an N-95 mask, it is not helping much. And think....if these little (other) masks are so effective, wouldn't you be safe with your mask on (if you so choose to wear one) regardless of whether others wear one or not? So it really doesn't matter because you have your own barrier? Andrea
ReplyDeleteAnything that slows down this virus should be used. The current thought is that masks create a barrier. If everyone is creating a barrier then the virus will slow down. It shouldn't be a matter of choice. It should be law.
DeleteAndrea, You really have not seen the multiple upon multiple articles on why the mask wearer is the one not spreading the virus because they have a barrier form expelling potential virus particles? Come one-that's just trying to ignore basic information to fulfill a personal agenda. When a person breaths in (their not impermeable) a person breath sin whatever is in the air. It really is as basic as that. If the virus is out of the air, trapped before being expelled, the person breathing in is more protected. The maskless person that may be carrying though would be expelling it into the air for all breathers.
DeleteBoris really should have announced wearing masks outside the home....full stop. Not just in shops, everywhere outside.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely
DeleteI know, I get really frustrated with all of the people who refuse to wear a mask, too. Some just are extremely stubborn.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that I live in suburbia away from the town centre. I don't mix with general public any more and my food supply will see me through quite a few months if we are really careful. Thank goodness we aren't picky eaters.
DeleteHere in Victoria, it is mandatory that you wear one once outside your own front gate. Seems like our town is pretty good & even people doing some work in their front gardens apologise if you are passing and they aren't wearing one, which isn't actually illegal. Our restrictions are pretty tough, but quite confusing at times with the two areas, one being metropolitan Melbourne and the other, regional Victoria, so if we can all get through these trying times we may come out the other side sooner (fingers crossed). Take care, stay safe & huggles.
ReplyDeleteI think we could do with a law like that.
DeleteWhat gets me is when people look as if they are wearing their mask or other face covering but it's set below their nose.

It's utter madness.
DeleteI totally agree, in Japan, if you are asked to do something we do it, we have worn masks for a long time , if we feel unwell or have a cold we were a mask. It’s purely common sense and politeness to people around you.
ReplyDeleteChildren even wear masks. We even wear gloves. That is why we have it under control so much better.
Plus our airports are still closed to international travelers. I look at the uk and I live in fear for you all
I despair for the UK.
DeleteTry living in the US. Certain people think it's a joke. I despair that it will never get better here.
ReplyDeleteSharon, sadly it's exactly the same here
DeleteCouldn’t agree more. Ran up two more masks this morning. I also want a coat that has a big sign on the back saying ‘BACK OFF’.xxx
ReplyDeleteCut out fabric letters and stitch them onto your coat... Hmmmm, now there's a thought :-)
DeleteI always wear one when I have to even though my glasses mist up and it might be a bit (very) juvenile but I pretend I am a cowboy about to rob the stagecoach with my mask on
ReplyDeleteMy glasses mist up too... and I imagine I am a bank robber :-)
DeleteMy daughter is asthmatic ( 2 A&E visits needed for it last year) but manages to wear a mask. My husband works for the NHS and wears one for 11 hour shifts. It irritates me no end to hear/ read people say they can't wear one to pop into a shop for a few minutes, and more so when they criticize others for wearing one and 'being a sheep'.
