As of one minute past midnight on Friday night Middlesbrough will be locking down. This means that I won't be able to play my usual game of Rummikub every morning with my friend but we are still allowed to walk outside together... for the time being. We have decided that we will make the walk a bit longer instead of being indoors. I must be fair and say that I am more than happy to be locked down as I have plenty to keep me busy. My friend on the other hand lives alone and is always out and about. A lockdown will affect her badly.
I think everyone underestimates the mental effect of lockdown. I'm sure seeing you every day for a walk will help.
ReplyDeleteI do hope so. She has a good supportive family and many friends that she can chat with online or via wattsapp so won't be cut off from everyone.
DeleteMy daughter lives in Hartlepool and works in a senior school in Middleborough so is in lockdown too although still has to work. Worrying times...
ReplyDeleteVery worrying. Hopefully we can quickly get a lid on this surge and get back to normal
DeleteThese are strange times, staying safe is important.
ReplyDeleteThey are very strange times indeed. I have just had to cancel a social evening with friends for Saturday night. We had planned a meal and a couple of drinks here. Not sure when we can get together now. I am totally in agreement with locking down though.
DeleteI wish you well! Literally. I think at first, most people were a bit excited to just stay home...like having a snow day in school! But then we start feeling the absence of freedom. Since we were still able to go to grocery stores (when we had lock-down over the spring), I felt "life as usual" except we weren't able to attend church then. (I'm sure the germs were at church and not at Walmart, right??) But we did travel to see our kids and also on the plane a couple of times to Florida, which for the most part, stayed open. So I didn't live in fear. Right now we just have to wear face masks, which I find annoying enough. Andrea
ReplyDeleteIt really hasn't affected the way I live. My only regret is that exams haven't taken place at the university. I loved the camaraderie of invigilating and really do miss that
DeleteEverything is worth it if C19 is controlled or hopefully eradicated. I so hope everybody will pay attention and respect the need to do this. Stay safe!! Amanda x
ReplyDeleteThank you. If everyone played their part we could get past this virus. Sadly there will always be those who think the rules don't apply to them.
DeleteSo far so good down here in Sussex but we aren't that bothered about going out so it doesn't affect us, but I know some people are really suffering still from last time and are still frightened to go out.
ReplyDeleteHope it doesn't last long for you.

It won't really affect me as the only place I go is a local walk. We avoid anywhere that people are mixing.
DeleteNot unexpected but very concerning. Stay safe. Love to you both from .kim and me.xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Anona. x
DeleteI'm filled with admiration that you can play Rummikub It has me baffled most of the time!
ReplyDeleteStay safe and well. xx
A friend taught me and now I am addicted to playing.Tony and I often have a few games
DeleteWe are in lockdown in Swansea too. Doesn't seem to have made any difference to people!
ReplyDeleteI think the town centre will be most affected. It will make hardly any difference to me
DeleteI work at the local University and have been working at home since March, and haven't been in Middlesbrough town centre since then (unless you count a walk around Albert Park Lake). Like you I only go out for walks and don't mix so life will not be very different, but I hope that people do stick to the restrictions so we don't go into complete lockdown
