Often on a Friday Tony and I like to treat ourselves to fish and chips at the local chippy. They are absolutely scrummy but does the portion really need to be this big? We buy one between the two of us and it is more than enough. No wonder folk are getting fatter and fatter...

Ohhh that looks so good and I bet they taste delicious. I have not had fish and chips forever and I am sure our in the US would not compare.

DeleteReally yummy!! Every time I return home to the UK the first lunch out with my sister is fish and chips which we eat in the car parked somewhere pretty. I totally agree with you Cherie the portions are big. At times I just can't eat it all. stay safe Amanda x

DeleteLooks yummy & our fish'n'chips just don't compare with those in the UK. We are always treated by my brother-in-law at least once each trip & my most memorable was eating the for tea in Whitby on my birthday watching some pirates singing a ditty nearby. Not sure what it was all about, but it was fun. Portions these days are way too big & we share now. I made tuna risotto for our tea last night. Our heights are opposite to you, (although we've both shrunk a little as we age) & are now 6'2" and 4'10 1/2"(me). Take care, have a lovely weekend & huggles.

DeleteWe never buy a portion of chips each we always share. One of the chippies does a senior meal which is a small fish and chips just right for me!

DeleteThey look lovely. We haven't had any takeaway since before lock-down but we used to love fish and chips occasionally. We always did the same and had one between us which was loads. We could never understand why the portions were so large. We used to eat ours and then say that we couldn't imagine eating the same amount again as it would be with a whole portion. P.S. We always divided ours equally.

DeleteThey look delicious. I always used to ask for the fish to be wrapped separate from the chips to stop the latter going a bit soft.
ReplyDeleteI agree that one portion is more than enough for two - one reason I no longer use the chippy. Just too much for one and so much waste.
