Are you barking mad? Bit of a rant

I think it has become the norm to just pick up my mask along with my purse if I am heading out into public spaces. Yesterday I took my library books back and didn't even stop to think about popping my mask on. It makes me so angry to hear of people whining about wearing them as they 'have asthma and can't breathe'. Hells bells you won't be able to breathe at all if you catch the virus. Would you refuse to wear a ventilator mask??????? If your asthma is so bad that you can't wear a mask then you shouldn't be out in the community risking your/my health and putting an extra strain on the NHS. And don't get me started on folk booking holidays abroad?  You leave me speechless.  Rant over.

I am waiting for a huge spike come the winter but we are well stocked up with everything we need so won't need to venture anywhere near the shops if/when it happens.

  1. I have to admit, I am also quietly preparing for a winter spike and another lockdown. Just in case. No panic buying, just a few extra things each week - they won't go to waste.

  2. Totally agree with you. My stockpile is still there until the whole thing is over.

  3. Think of those who cannot afford to buy the extra couple of items a week to build up a stock for the winter. These people will not necessarily be those who have never held a job or who have decided that benefits are a right that they are entitled to. Those who cannot afford to buy the extra couple of items a week may be the people who have always held a job, perhaps a job that only pays the minimum wage, such a low wage preventing them making any savings for the future, but who have now lost their job due to the far reaching effects of coronavirus. So many people were boasting they had stocked up for the end of Brexit when they thought there would be a shortage of food. What happened? No shortage of food. Think of other who are not so fortunate instead of boasting that you have a full larder. It is disgusting that in today's society we have people who are having to rely on food banks to feed themselves and/or their family.

    1. Boasting I have a full larder? I am happy to eat nettles, dandelions and other weeds to supplement my diet. If the whingers and whiners had to live on war time rations they would soon see what doing without really meant. There was no social security back then. They could try doing without mobile phones and internet and use the money saved to buy food. I have lived on social security benefits in my time and yes it was hard but I managed. Many a time we ate nothing put porridge for tea but we never once complained we just got on with it. Maybe instead of moaning about how badly off they are they should try growing a few veggies in their gardens/window boxes or get off their backsides and have a wander through the local park and learn the art of food foraging like I once did.

  4. I agree & although I tend to hyperventilate, I still wear it once outside of home & garden. There is talk of our borders being closed now till 2022........That is a long way off. Take care & hugs.

    1. I absolutely hate wearing the mask as I too find it difficult to breathe through. I'm avoiding anywhere that needs a mask unless it's a vital journey.

  5. It is so frustrating that the ignorant/awkward/plain stupid amongst us put themselves and the rest of us at risk. The danger is real, if there were wolves roaming our woods i expexct they would be out there camping. My pantry is well stocked and i add a few things every week. I had to send a box of things like soap and toiletries to my sister in Norfolk in May as she could not get them for love nor money. Michael talks obout my doomsday prepper mind but he is happy to help with extra shelving.

    1. I am planning on putting some extra shelving in the garage. I hope to make a load of chutney and jam and store it there.
