Hmm, I never expected that

Some time ago I mentioned that I had tomato plants growing out of the top of my strawberry planter. I had assumed that would be tiny bush tomatoes as that is what I had planted around the garden this year.  I took the seeds from some tiny tomatoes that we bought in a supermarket.  I popped the planter into the conservatory so I would remember to feed and water them... Well these blimmin tomatoes are related to a trifid and not the little compact things I had expected.. It very quickly became too late to transplant them as they grow as soon as my back is turned.  I doubt very much whether they will be strong enough to give me many tomatoes but I am feeding and watering them every day with a top up water every evening. I will need Tony to help me move the planter onto the floor to give them some more room to grow

And just look at how much growth the Lavender has put on. It's just starting to show the first hint of colour but smells fabulous each time I brush past it.  When I peg laundry on the line I allow it to waft back forth brushing over the lavender. It smells gorgeous when I iron it.  The flowery thing hanging from the shed is made from bleach bottles. It is spinning in the wind and looks really quite eye catching. I have a tin filled with flowers that I die cut from bleach and shampoo bottles.  I nearly threw them out the other day but couldn't bring myself to do it. I am glad I didn't as I have a little project simmering in my brain.

  1. Wow, that's definitely a triffid, don't go in there in the dark of night by yourself!!

Are we going to see the new haircut?

Why do you think you will not get toms on that plant/

    1. I think it will run out of root space very quickly

  3. I smiled at the comment about it being a triffid...it certainly is a monster of a plant.

    1. It smells really strongly of 'tomato plant' if you know what I mean

  4. I'm chuckling over this post. I wish my plants would grow when my back is turned. They seem to need constant cheerleading to do anything :)

Hair looks good! I get to go in two weeks' time. I'm torn between getting it back to the usual length or just a trim, keeping it long enough to tie back in the heat!

    1. Thanks Jenny. I have a face better suited to radio than TV. My hair looks so much nicer than the photograph.

  5. Your garden is flourishing. I can really see your enthusiastic energy in the flowers. How exciting about the tomato plant. I am harvesting tomatoes now, too.

  6. Your tomato plant in the strawberry planter is amazing! I had a slow start on my tomato plants this year. I started them from seeds a bit late and then it was so cold and raining. They are finally growing but not as big yet as your beast.
