Along the lanes I'd love to wend, near Artist's Mews, on Writer's Bend. Where fragrant flowers of every hue sparkle in the morning dew. I wish I lived in Carver's Valley, Quilter's Creek or Cross Stitch Alley. Just think of all the things I'd make, if I lived by Crafters Lake.......... Eating those flowers
Thanks for your kind messages you lovely people. I had a snooze and feel a bit (not a lot) better. I have to tough it out as there's no point sitting around feeling sorry for myself because it won't change a thing. Being British, a nice cup of tea soon roused me and I nipped out into the garden and planted some more Rainbow Chard and Purple Kale. At the moment I am tucking edible plants that will feed us in the colder months in between the flowers in my pretty borders but next year I plan to grow a whole load more food in my garden. I have just sown a few more runner beans so that I can extend the harvest a bit. Yesterday I planted the tomato cutting down in the secret garden even though it hadn't been hardened off. It's really quite warm outside and the secret garden is very sheltered. I checked the tomato last night and it was looking very sorry for itself so I didn't know if it would survive the transplanting. This morning it looks amazing, all perked up and ready to grow. Next year I am planning to put some Jerusalem artichokes into a far corner of the secret garden. The flowers will be pretty and I can eat the tubers without having to give them too much attention. I intend to grow a lot more climbing beans up the supports that I put in for my sweet peas and will plant fewer sweet peas. Just enough for a little vase full every few day. I would really appreciate some suggestions for pretty but edible plants that will grow in a UK climate. It doesn't have to be something that can be planted right now as this is a bit of a long term project for me.

Sorry to hear you are still having problems with your leg and now the other hip. Hope it was the lime juice. Love reading about your amazing garden. Take care. XXXXX
ReplyDeleteThanks Maureen. It's the first time in ages that my leg has given me unbearable pain so hopefully it was just the lime juice. I should know better by tomorrow I hope.
DeleteGlad you are feeling better today. I asked my doctor if certain foods made my arthritis worse and he said a definite 'NO' but I disagree with him. I'm sure that some foods make it worse but it's just finding out what they are.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see if you gradually get better, then you'll know it's the lime.

I had a similar conversation with my friend regarding our doctors surgery. One doctor said food makes a different, the other said not. One doctor said bits of bone break off and cause aggravation the other said that was a load of tosh? One doctor said taking turmeric and glucosameine make a difference but the other said they are a complete waste of time. I have no idea what to believe anymore. On a better note my hip is much better though still a bit naggy
DeleteGee, hope that other hip comes good & you don't suffer too long. I'll put on my thinking cap from down under & see what info I can find for you on "pretty" edibles. Take care, stay safe & well. Huggles.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan. I am hoping to make most of my garden pretty but edible over the next few years
