The sun was shining and it was nice and warm at 07.15 this morning when I met my friend Marian for our morning walk. It was a bit cooler by 09.30 when I did the same walk again with a different friend. When I got back, I set to and made a pork casserole for tea tonight and a Spanish chicken for tea tomorrow and Wednesday. While they were cooking I made a few more wax wraps in different sizes.
When we were shopping on Saturday I happened to ask Tony whether he missed using cling film. He surprised me when he said that he hadn't missed it at all once he'd got used to using the wax wraps. We now have plenty to use in a variety of sizes and they look quite pretty in the glass jar on my worktop. The fridge has all manner of plates and bowls covered in other ones that we have. It's nice to think that we are doing our bit to reduce plastic waste.
Anyhow my lovely blog buddies, what have you been up to today? Did you venture out for a walk to alleviate the boredom of the lockdown. I must be honest and say that I never get bored as there is always something to do. I don't always feel like doing it but it's there in the background for when the mood arises. Are you having anything nice for tea/dinner tonight? I'm back on track after a weekend of naughty, fattening, artery clogging snack food. My one small nod to healthy eating was a plate of melon slices which is covered with the wax wrap.

I can't remember the last time I used clingfilm. Like you I always use wax wraps or reusable coverings.
ReplyDeleteI've just popped two broccoli quiches in the oven. One for myself and one for an elderly neighbour just out of hospital. X
Can you share how you make the wax wraps, they are quite dear online. I'd love to do some for me and my friends.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a party spread - and it's okay to do that now and then so don't feel naughty :) Are those John Gray Scotch eggs in the upper part of the picture? lol
ReplyDeleteWe refer to it as a 'party tea'. Not that it was a party but a great excuse to eat utter junk. They aren't scotch eggs they are mini pork pies.
DeleteThat's a delicious looking tea.
