My pretty garden

I am hoping to log just how quickly my hedge is growing so I can look back and see how long it takes to become a decent size. The rain which has hammered down for the past few days has been a real blessing for the garden. Everything looks freshly washed and beautifully green.  I am contemplating planting my tomato plant thinning's in the border if I can find a space.  I hate throwing good plants away if I can find a space for them and rarely discard any if more than one grows when only one is needed. . These tomato plant thinning's are from the top of the strawberry planter and there's already a little crop of flowers starting to appear.

The green is a lovely backdrop for all the Summer colour

  1. I'm still watering the garden as we've had very little rain on the Essex coast. It's really hot again today but there is a breeze to. Finally the tomato plants are growing.

    1. I think a month's worth of rain fell in one day just along the coast at Redcar last week. We haven't had quite that much but it's been very wet here.

  2. What is the name of the plant that smells like vanilla? I would like to plant that one in our flower garden.

    1. This one is Nemesia 'White lady'. A lot of nemesia smell of vanilla. It keeps on flowering through the winter too. It's supposed to be an annual but we have had it for the past five years. I plan to try taking a few cuttings this year.

    1. It's terraced though that isn't noticeable. We drop down three levels with steps at the bottom of the garden leading to my covered I planting/sowing area. It used to be a pergola but Tony put me a roof on. It's a Godsend for potting things on. I used to make such a mess in the kitchen.

  4. Your garden is just beautiful - so much colour and texture. What a treat! We have had some frost at night until very, very recently, so only the hardy perennials have flowered so far. This week I will be planting flowers and veggies. Just a few, but I'm looking forward to it.

  7. Oh, that salvia is really pretty. I love the green backdrop. All that rain makes such a difference. I love the way you describe all of the scents. I would like to plant some jasmine for that reason.
