Along the lanes I'd love to wend, near Artist's Mews, on Writer's Bend. Where fragrant flowers of every hue sparkle in the morning dew. I wish I lived in Carver's Valley, Quilter's Creek or Cross Stitch Alley. Just think of all the things I'd make, if I lived by Crafters Lake.......... I'm a wally
For the past few weeks I have been cultivating some unknown plants that sprouted in the top of my strawberry planter. I thought that maybe I had sown some seeds there and was planning on waiting to see whether they would flower. Turns out they are little bush (I hope) tomatoes. I can only think that I must have sown some tomato seeds which didn't appear to grow. I probably topped up the strawberry planter with the compost from the seeds pots and the extra watering and attention has caused them to sprout. Flower buds are already showing on them. My carefully tended tomato plants aren't a patch on these. I think they have thrived on neglect.

Thankfully we love tomatoes. I can see my freezer being filled with all manner of tomato sauces at the end of summer this year.
DeleteTomatoes are notorious for popping up in the strangest places. Over the years I've been inundated in our various gardens by them, but luckily we eat plenty of tomatoes, so they don't go to waste & are good for friends & neighbours too. Take care, stay safe & huggles.
ReplyDeleteIt's usually sunflowers that pop up all over in my garden. I once had one pop up in a hanging basket. It was huge and everyone that passed smiled when they saw it.
DeleteThat seems to be the way for me - the plants that pop up unnoticed in the compost pile grow better than the cared for ones in the veggie garden! I haven't heard anyone use the term 'wally' since my granddad used to call me that! :)
ReplyDeleteWally is a word Tony and I tend to use. It's either that or Pillock.
DeleteI chuckled when I twigged what they are. How I didn't recognise them before is quite beyond me.
