I wish you could smell the fragrance in my garden right now. The roses are incredible. There is a heady scent of orange blossom from my little orange tree and the vanilla scented Nemesia are creating the most wonderful potpourri of heavenly fragrance. The sweet peas that I planted at the base of the rusty supports are climbing nicely and one or two are showing some first signs of colour. They are going to be beautiful when they are in full flower. I have colourful bedding plants in the border and though I love pretty coloured bedding plants on the whole they don't add a lot of scent and I have no idea why anyone would plant a rose that didn't have a wonderful heady fragrance. The pansies and viola that I emptied from the hanging baskets to make way for summer bedding have been astonishingly prolific in their flowering. I am so pleased that I decided to put them in the border instead of the compost bin.
The camels were nowhere to be seen at the shop yesterday and I completely forgot to ask where they were. When we came home from the farm shop it was simply too hot for us wimpy Northerners to sit out in the garden. Tony and I stayed indoors until the heat was fading a little and then we watered and weeded both front and back gardens.
I have just had a little wander around the garden taking photos and am delighted with the Delphinium. I have never grown them before and they are a gorgeous deep blue. Behind the Delphinium there is a hollyhock but I have no idea what colour it is going to be. Gardens bring so many lovely surprises

Your garden is certainly looking lovely & I do wish I could smell it too. I've another one for you if you Like fragrance & that is a Port Wine Magnolia which has a very heady perfume when it is a warm day. I've got 2, due to having had one in a previous garden & deciding it would be the first thing I put in here, only to find that I already had one here when we moved in. Silly me! Pity you didn't see the camels & we didn't go far today with the inclement weather, so maybe tomorrow, a quick run might be in order. Take care, stay safe & huggles.
ReplyDeletePort Wine magnolia sounds gorgeous. My Birthday is in August and I am building quite a wish list.
DeleteAugust? Early or late and either Leo or Virgo? l'm the latter, a late winter baby (gigle). The magnolia is actually a Michelia figo in case you need it.
Delete6th. I'm a Leo
DeleteOnly you could call the rose Leaping Salmon when you know it is really Emanuelleš¤£xxx
ReplyDeleteNow now...you say tomatoes and I'll say tomatoes ;-)
DeleteThe sun really does bring out the fragrance, doesn't it? It's wonderful.

Such a shame not to see the camels. Your garden is looking gorgeous, I do so wish that I could take in the fragrane as well.
